Etruscan Coast in winter: what to do and itinerary

Costa degli Etruschi in winter between sea and villages

In winter the Etruscan Coast offers quiet beaches, clear light and less crowded villages. It is a season suitable for walks, museums and local cuisine, with shorter days and reduced beach services.

What to do in winter

Walking in San Vincenzo and Rimigliano

Follow the seafront and choose a stretch of the Rimigliano Park. Control the wind and sea, bring water and don’t count on seasonal services.

Visit Piombino, Populonia and Baratti

Piombino combines the historic center and museums. Populonia and Baratti are ideal on clear days; check the winter opening hours of the archaeological sites.

Hinterland villages

Suvereto and Campiglia Marittima offer alleys, views and Maremma cuisine. Sassetta allows you to add well-being or a short walk in the woods.

Two-day itinerary

Day 1: San Vincenzo, Rimigliano and sunset in Baratti. Day 2: Piombino or Campiglia and Suvereto, choosing museums and tastings if it rains.

What to bring

Windproof jacket, shoes with good soles, water, external battery and a torch. Do not enter the sea in dangerous conditions and keep distance from the waves during storm surges.

Before leaving

Times, prices, transportation and events may change. Always check official sources, book when required and check the weather.
